Wow guys. Long time no talk right? My last post was almost a year ago!!!! So currently, I am down in Florida... bored. My grampa passed away exactly 2 weeks ago from today. Luckily, I made the decision to fly down for that weekend and was by his side until an hour before he passed. He was a great man and his passing has been incredibly hard for my family. The burial of his ashes is on Wednesday and his Memorial service is on Thursday, so I will be in Florida all week and will even be at Monica's wedding on Saturday. :)
Looking back, I can't believe all that has happened since the last posting. I got a huge promotion at work! :) In the process, I realized how great of a negotiator I am. I ended up with a 40% raise, position of Junior Paralegal and an all expenses paid trip with the attorneys to Vegas. Also, since my last posting 8 people in my life have gotten pregnant or had a baby - 6 of the 8 being work colleagues. I'm definitely staying away from the water at work!!!!!! Apparently, I've moved from the wedding stage to the baby stage.
As for my wedding planning - it's been going great so far. No stress really and I'm still way ahead of the game. I booked my reception location, bought my dress, hired my photographer, had my save-the-date magnets made, found a great flamenco guitarist as a potential music choice and am now working on the florist. I think I found a great florist in my price range and am going to meet with her when I get back into town.
So, now I'm going to lay out for awhile at my pool. I'm sorry I can't update this blog more but just know that I miss you all and hope everything in your life is going fantastic.
Hugs and Kisses,
Melissa

This is really crazy. I don't even know where to begin!! Okay, so as you guys know, I went to Chicago this past weekend with a group of my friends to celebrate St. Patty's Day. I invited Eddie along because he had never been to Chicago before and it's a city that he really wanted to see and had been talking about visiting. I would have felt awful going without him. So he took the opportunity to plan the proposal during this trip because he knew it would never cross my mind. It was a very last minute trip and he was completely correct in thinking that this would be the trip that I would least expect something like this to happen.
We arrived in Chicago on Thursday night and checked into our hotel. We stayed at the Hard Rock because it was so convenient and close to all of the attractions. (I really recommend staying in this hotel. The staff was AMAZING. And you can't beat the location.) Lisa, Karen and I went out to a club that night called Rino. We have some really fun pics from the hotel lounge (we hung out there for about an hour at 4am acting dumb and drunk). It was fun, but the proposal came the next day...
Friday, we woke up and were ready by lunchtime. We really wanted to try Chicago deep dish pizza, so we all went out to Due's which is a well-known pizzeria. We were disappointed and the pizza made all of our stomachs feel sick for the rest of the day. Ugh. No more deep dish pizza for me! I'll stick with Pizza Hut Pan Pizza thank you. Anyway, so as we were getting ready to leave, Eddie got up to use the restroom. At this time, I was on the phone with the taxicab company lodging a complaint for the ridiculous cabdriver that we had on the way to the airport (backstory in a minute...). All of my friends got up from their chairs to walk out of the restaurant and as I was getting up, I grabbed Eddie's leather jacket and proceeded to fold it to take it with me. What I didn't know is that my friend started freaking out because she thought that the ring was in the jacket. She told my other friends to "GRAB THE JACKET" and it took them awhile to realize what she was talking about. So, one of my friend's boyfriends finally come over and grabbed the jacket away from me, which,.... it's a good thing I was distracted with being on the phone because otherwise I would've thought it to be really weird. Luckily, Eddie had the ring in his pants pocket the entire time.
After we left the restaurant, Karen, Eddie and I all went over to the Art Institute of Chicago. For those of you who have not been there before, it's a beautiful museum that houses Monet, Picasso, Van Gogh, etc. Karen split apart from Eddie and I because she loves Picasso and wanted to view the special exhibit by herself. So, Eddie and I were alone walking upstairs in the different rooms. It didn't take long before I went into a tiny room by myself and he followed. No one else was in the room so he decided that that was the perfect moment. It was really simple. He just said, "I love you" and kissed me on the lips and then got down on his knee and proposed. It was soooooo cute because he was shaking really badly and I started bawling which in turn made him cry. It took me awhile to say "yes!!!" He placed the ring on my finger - He tried to put it on my right hand!!!!! LOL and so I grabbed it and put it on my left hand. It took me awhile to stop crying and I could not concentrate on the paintings around me for about 45 minutes following. It was very surreal!!!
So that is the story of my engagement. Later that night, we celebrated at the John Hancock lounge on the 96th floor. The stars aligned that day and we lucked out with the best table in the place. (people actually kept standing where our table was located and blocking our view to take pictures.) It was a really nice day filled with love, happiness and friends. (yes, sappy I know.) The rest of the weekend was awesome and we partied like crazy on St. Patty's Day!!!!
You can find all of my pictures on Myspace since most of you who read this are on myspace anyway. www.myspace.com/mfoxy
I'm not planning on having a wedding until a year and a half to two years from now. We want to have time to save up money and give our family and friends enough time to save up money as well!!!
I absolutely LOVE my ring too. It's everything I wanted AND MORE! I was expecting a smaller and not as sparkly ring, but Eddie really stepped out of his comfort zone and went beyond all expectation. Cherrie and Josh played a huge part in helping him pick it out and get a REALLY good deal on it. I stare at it a lot. HAHAHAHAHA. Part of it is because I'm not used to having something on my finger, and part of it is just because this ring is abnormally sparkly (i'm not the only one who thinks this, and it's because of the way claude cut it). oh and the website of the person where eddie bought the ring is www.claudemorady.com It's beautiful and it's vintage!!! The ring is actually from the 1940s and I think that it was meant to be because the type of ring I wanted (circle diamond with pear shaped on each side) is more of a modern style and they were having a really difficult time trying to find a ring that fit the description.
Oh and about the crazy cab driver.... we showed up at my apartment a couple of minutes late and it actually took awhile for us to load everything into the cab (there were three of us riding together). While they were loading the cab, I went to park my car and the taxi driver completely lost it. He wasn't very helpful regardless - I actually had to walk up to the window and ask him to open the trunk for us to put our luggage in. So when I left, he started charging us because he said we were taking too long. Eddie sort of got into an argument and so then all the way to the airport, he ranted TO US, ABOUT US. "You fucking kids nowadays! I'm old enough to be your father! So disrespectful! etc. etc. etc." HE DID NOT SHUT UP THE ENTIRE WAY TO THE AIRPORT. Then at the airport, he didn't get out to help us take our luggage out of the trunk. Honestly, I think I have a pretty high tolerance with cabdrivers because most of them just aren't normal, but this guy completely crossed the line and all three of us agreed. I mean, you don't curse in front of a customer no matter how mad you are. I think taxi drivers just don't remember that we are customers!!
Anyway, so on a much happier note, I've already asked three girls to be my bridesmaids!!!!! I want to add a fourth, but I don't think Eddie has enough friends. :( I asked Karen (my friend here at work) on the same day that Eddie proposed. I asked Jenn (the girl who's wedding I was in back in Feb in FL) and Anna (you all know Anna!) who may quite possibly be my maid of honor!!! The other person I had in mind was actually Cherrie (but sssshhhhhhhh!!! don't say anything because it's a good possibility that Eddie won't have enough guys to cover).
Well anyway, I think I've written enough!!!! Thanks for listening!!!! Go check out the pics!

Okay, so I haven't talked to you all since the beginning of December. Christmas and New Year's were great. Yada yada yada. I actually didn't want to come back to LA this time. It's kind of wearing down on me being so far away from my family. It's hard when they aren't in town to do small things with you like go to the movies or bowling with ice cream afterwards. I'm actually leaving again on Friday night. I'm taking the red eye home in time for Robin Shuford's wedding and then staying a week until my friend Jenn's wedding next weekend. Eddie made me promise NO MORE WEDDINGS until ours. I think I can hold up that promise unless Anna gets married. :)
The most exciting thing in my life right now is that my friends and I just booked a trip to Chicaahgo for St. Patty's day. The last time I was in Chicaaahgo was in 1998 with my mom and grampa (imagine how fun that was). We were just kind of passing through on our way back from a trip in the U.P. (Michigan). This time it's going to be crazy (well, as crazy as trips get for 26 year olds....I've noticed a downfall in my motivation to party). Apparently, St. Patty's Day is a HUGE deal in Chicaahgo. They have parades and green beer and even dye their river green. My friend grew up there and so she is showing us around the city. We booked a room at the Hard Rock Hotel which I heard was really nice! The other option was the W Hotel - which has a better view, but the Hard Rock was closer to all the festivities. I'm looking forward to all the drinking and fun, but NOT the COLD!!! bbbbbrrrrrrrr.
I finally got down to the OC for my good friend's party. We almost burned the house down - some guy put a plastic tray in the oven. We ended up cleaning up ashes all night, but thankfully no one was injured. We did some sightseeing in Laguna Beach. It was not at all what I thought and just a little touristy for my taste.
LAGUNA
Anyway, not much else going on. I did splurge and buy myself a new pair of Chanels. (Seen above in the Laguna Beach picture.) My first pair of designer glasses!!! Not that any of my other namebrand sunglasses under $300 are NOT considered designer, but it's not quite in Chanels league. Actually, they weren't designers....LOL..... DKNY, nine west..... So yay!!! for my first pair of designers!!! Luckily, my attorney paid for half of them with the gift certificate that he gave me for Christmas.
Well anyway, better get going. I leave you now with some fun bachelorette pictures from New Years!!!!

@ 12:25pm
Livejournal has changed A LOT since I last posted!!!! That's kind of scary. It's just livejournal from crying out loud and it's changing on me.
Of course, there is much to talk about that has happened in my life since I last posted. I can't believe it's already Christmas. The months between summer and December have flown by so incredibly fast. Fortunately, I'm ahead of the game this year and have gotten almost all of my holiday shopping done, except a few things for friends, but I already know what I'm getting them. It's just a matter of picking them up. This is good because I have 5 more people to add to my gift list this year. Five more people to buy presents for is a plus because it means that I actually have friends this year, but a minus because it means spending more money that I don't have. Oh well, I like giving gifts IF I know what my friends like. My firm's holiday party is tonight. This year it will be at www.hotelcasadelmar.com. I'm REALLY excited. I bought my dress on black Friday at BCBG. It is a bright red dress and I got it for 65% off. :) There was a black dress that looked awesome on me, but sadly it was $345. My shoes are really cute red Aldos and last night I got a manicure and pedicure to make my feet and hands look halfway decent. I'll post pics of the party as soon as I get them. BTW, I'm leaving on the 22nd for Florida until the 31st. It will be nice to get away from LA for awhile, but the thought of flying and being in crowded airports is already making me tired. haha.
****** SOOOOO, the biggest news I have is that Eddie and my 6 year anniversary was this past weekend. For our anniversary, he surprised me by taking me RING SHOPPING on Rodeo. :) :) :) It was a really intimidating experience because I had absolutely no preparation. I know nothing about diamonds and engagement rings and was completely out of my element. I haven't even been thinking about engagement yet, but Eddie has recently just planned out my entire future. He WANTS to buy a house this year, but I'm not too sure that I'm ready to jump into that just yet. Anyway, so now I know that I want about a 1.5 carat (nothing too big or too small). I tried on a 2 carat and it was just too overpowering for my finger. I don't want to be one of those girls with the big ring that everyone is annoyed at. I also really like the tapered baguettes on the side with an oval diamond, but everyone else seems to think that tapered baguettes take away from the big diamond itself. So now I'm torn between a simple circle diamond or an oval diamond with tapered baguettes on the sides. (I can't believe I'm even using this terminology!!!!!) The stores we stopped at are Tiffany's, Cartier, Harry Winston's, and De Beers. Harry Winston's was DEFINITELY my fav. Their rings are better quality than Tiffany's and Cartier, but you definitely pay for it. So, I may not go with them because they carry only the top 3 colors (D E F). Tiffany's and Cartier carry the next level down in colors, but I've heard that color doesn't matter as much with a smaller diamond like a 1.5 carat. We were treated the best at Harry Winston's which also played a huge part in swaying our opinions. Tiffany's and Cartier are way too jaded. They're too big and commercial and IN STYLE. :P SOoooooo, I'M GETTING ENGAGED WITHIN THIS NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!! Luckily, Eddie knows what I like and won't get me a cheap ring. haha. ******
Other big news is that we bought a Nintendo Wii. Eddie stood in line for 3 hours on Friday morning a few weeks back to get this system. He did it all for me and caught a really nasty cold from it. These ladies were trying to pursuade him to give up his system for their sons (they were flashing pictures of their sons). So, Eddie whipped out a picture of me and said that he's getting it for me. Awwwwwww, how cute. I am now addicted to Zelda and consider Link to be my other boyfriend. LOL. Unfortunately for Eddie, the system and my game are at his apartment so I ignore him whenever I come over. LOL.
Finally, I made thanksgiving dinner for Eddie and me. I even made a six pound turkey marinated in butter/garlic/lemon juice/poultry seasoning. I stuffed it with lemons, onions, rosemary and sage. It turned out DAMN good. Eddie was eating it for like two weeks after. The side dishes we made are stuffing, gravy, Giada's green bean casserole, crescent rolls, homemade cranberry sauce. YUM!!!!!!!
Well, I hope everyone has a great day and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!! Early, I know, but who knows when I'll be on here next.
Oh yeah and I should tell you about my becoming head legal sometime. Exciting!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!! I've missed you all so much!
Tonight we are going to the big Halloween celebration in West Hollywood. I'm sooo excited because they block of a bunch of streets and have a bunch of FOOD and DRINKS. YUM!!!!!
I also haven't told you guys that I'm moving out of our apartment towards the end of November. Eddie is turning 27 this month and is having a huge panic attack. The future living arrangement is mutual, although it wasn't mutual to begin with. I will be moving in with a co-worker and taking over my best friend's room (she is moving out to live with her bf). Eddie will remain at the apartment that we share now. Don't freak out and get the wrong idea though. This isn't a bad thing that is happening. We never really had a "dating phase" at the beginning of our relationship. We always lived with each other even before we started showing interest in pursuing a deeper relationship. This living separately ordeal is to give us the chance to "date" and to work out some of the minor problems that we don't want going on when we are married. So in other words, this step is in the positive direction, not the negative. This is also a chance for Eddie to gain some independence - he is way too attached and dependent on me. Unfortunately, Eddie has no idea of how to "surprise" someone and he informed me that if we are to live separately, we must do it now because HE IS PROPOSING WITHIN A YEAR FROM NOW. What the heck!!!!! I don't want to know that information!!!! So yeah, I'm looking at a wedding within 2-3 years from now. Freaky!!!! It doesn't really help that my mom reminded me the other day of how old I am and that she adopted me at my age. Does someone want grandbabies soon????
But yeah, so the apartment I'm moving into is in Playa Del Rey, which is farther from work for me, but oh well. The rent is really cheap compared to what I would be paying anywhere else (in a studio, 1 bd, or sharing an apartment even). It's a really nice apartment - huge and spacious, the development has a gym, spa, pool, dry cleaner, sauna, etc. I'm really looking forward to all of those features because they are hard to come by out here!!!!!
Okay, so I've gotta run and get ready to go out, but I hope you are doing well. I've gotten back in shape somewhat by taking yoga classes that my work offers, as well as some dance classes at the Santa Monica Dance Studio at the 3rd Street Promenade. We tried a kickboxing class at Equinox and it was horrible. The instructor was a Nazi and pretty much kick our asses. Never again. I'm out----- Have a great night!

I PASSED!!!!! I PASSED!!!! I'm a Paralegal. You may call me Paralegal Fox now. hahaha.
My friends threw me a surprise Congratulations party last night. Eddie and Karen planned it. I figured it out when Eddie stopped by Honey's Kettle and ordered $35 worth of chicken. LOL. I'm like why are you buying so much chicken??? Ohhhhhhhhhh....... It all became clear to me, like the last scene in "The Usual Suspects". I had caught Karen looking at the menu at work earlier in the week. On top of that I suggested hanging out on Thursday and she made up a lame excuse that she was driving down to Orange County. Small things that I thought were odd but did not tie together all became clear at once.
I am sooooooooooo relieved. People can just see it in me that a weight has been lifted. Woo hoo!!!!!

Hello? Anyone here?
Hi, it's me. I'm the girl who hasn't posted in two months.
Hi everyone... or anyone who is still here. This is gonna be a short post. Lots of new stuff going on here and of course, no time to post. My co-worker who works for the same attorney as me has been gone for three weeks on her honeymoon. If I was busy before, just think of how I am doing now. She's coming back on Monday - thankfully, because I'm beat. On top of doing the work that TWO people usually do, I have the second half of my paralegal certificate exam tonight. Yep, I'm ALL DONE with paralegal classes. Can you believe it?? No more trucking over to the UCLA campus on Mondays and Wednesdays after work. The first half of my test on Monday was awful. It lasted 4 hours long and believe me, I used all FOUR hours and I still left about 10 questions blank. It drained me of all my energy, so I'm dreading tonight. Wish me luck! Other than that, I've just been hanging in here watching football games and going to weddings. That seems to be my theme right now. Florida State sucks this year and I don't wanna hear it from you UF people. I'm just glad that Miami sucks even worse. Unranked? That's pretty bad. I don't mind Florida as much because Leak has beautiful eyes. haha. That's all I can think about when I watch the Florida games. BTW, we went to a Florida bar and it was crazy. Anna, you'll have to come out here sometime and I'll take you to it. Onto the weddings.... One was completely ghetto - like, it was IN the ghetto. It was in Inglewood PAST Hollywood Park. At first, we were driving through and it wasn't so bad. Then, as soon as we hit the "Welcome to Inglewood" sign, it went downhill from there. The wedding was in the driveway of her in-laws home and I kept thinking that a Mexican gang was gonna walk through the gates and shoot us up. We didn't stay for long and Eddie kept saying that "I owe him". haha. The second wedding I went to was my co-workers. She's half Greek, half Armenian. Her family is exactly like "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". It was perhaps the BEST wedding I've ever been to in my life. The service was in a beautiful Armenian church in North Hollywood. We couldn't understand the service because it was in Armenian. The reception was at an Armenian hall. I can honestly say, I've never EVER seen so much food IN MY LIFE. We got there and snacked on cookies and appetizers. THEN, in the reception hall, we had a bunch of dishes on a big turntable with hummus, bread, eggplant, cavier, veggies, etc., etc., etc. We filled up on that, and then they brought out salmon. Afterwards, they brought out chicken and wheatrice. AFTER THAT, they brought out a meatloaf type of dish with middle eastern rice. AFTER THAT, they brought out another chicken dish. All this, was in the span of about 4 hours with tons of dancing in between. We left after the 2nd chicken dish and heard there was a ton more food even after we left. We didn't even get to see the cutting of the cake or anything. Crazy. There's lots more to the wedding - belly dancers. They had belly dancers. I can't list everything here though. Too much!
What else? We threw a baby shower for my boss and I picked catering from Lemon Moon. Unfortunately, the catering manager is a fucking moron and FORGOT our order!!!!!! A $600 ORDER!!!!! HOW THE FUCK DO YOU FORGET A $600 ORDER????? Luckily, we had ordered from another place as well, so my CEF ran out to Whole Foods and bought a bunch of food. Fucking Lemon Moon. I'm never matching my name with that place again!
Hmmmmmm, the only other things I've done in the past two months is go to a "TOOL" concert and bum a hit off of the guy next to me. I almost got caught by the police. They pulled the guy out to search him while I had the joint on me. We went to Malibu to do some wine tasting and I ended up joining a wine club...... Tim, it's cute though. You should take K. AND I finally went to Palm Springs - IN AUGUST!!! It was over 100 degrees and I wanted to die. BUT, the hotel we stayed at was super nice. Hotel Zoso. We're planning on going back again before this year ends. Palm Springs has the BIGGEST AND NICEST outlet mall I've ever seen. They even had Dooney & Burke, Burberry, and a Dior store.
Okay, I've got to get going for real. Hope everyone is well. :)

I'm gonna try to get this posted before my attorney gets here. It's gonna be a long post though because my weekend was crazy!!!
So, as you know I went to the X-Games this past Friday - Sunday. It was awesome!!!! Friday night was the best, but OF COURSE I forgot my camera that night. That night, we went to the Staples Center and our friend got us passes so that we could stand on the floor with the media and professional photogs. We watched Travis Pastrana make history with the double backflip in the Moto X Best Trick competition, which is the most talked about out of everything that happened during the games. Travis also won gold in the rally car racing and gold from his first run of the Moto X Freestyle competition. To give you an idea of where we were standing on Friday night:

To the left of the dirt pile where Travis is standing (where the bikers land) at the bottom. The only thing separating the media and the dirt pile was the path that the bikers go through to get back to the beginning ramp.
( OH YES THERE'S MORE )

Hey everyone! Me again. Sorry for the lack of writing and commenting on all of your guys' postings. I know I told you guys that I've been insanely busy these past few weeks, but the other half of my excuse is because my desk is now located in an EXTREMELY public location. It sucks - big time. People walk by ALL FREAKIN DAY LONG. Ugh.
Anyway, so another fast update. I don't want everyone to think I'm slackin here. haha. Didn't do much for the 4th. Hung around, made sloppy joe's (YUM), and then headed over to Cherrie's house. It was actually pretty clear last night and we were able to catch about 10 different firework shows. The best ones were West Hollywood, followed by Dodger Stadium. We were even able to kind of see Long Beach's show, the top half of the Hollywood Bowl, a couple of shows in the Valley, as well as various others. Crazy, huh?
My birthday was awesome. Friday night, we ate dinner at Finn McCool's (Irish Pub on Main street). I didn't know that Irish food was soooo YUMMY!!!!!!! Corned beef and cabbage - YUM. After dinner, we headed over to the Mor Bar. It was a cute place. Small, but cute. We danced and I got super wasted. haha.
Saturday was hangover day for me. I slept on and off til 3 and then headed out to the Beverly Center to buy my birthday present - a Louis Vitton purse!!! Yep, I decided to splurge and make the huge purchase. I am now carrying around a purse worth more than I am worth. LOL.
Anyway, I better get going before I get in trouble. Hope your guys' fourth of july was a good one!!!!!

We attended a taping of "Mind of Mencia" last night. It was a lonnngggggg night but lots of fun. We got to the Hollywood Studios around 6:30pm last night and ended up not leaving until around 1am!!!!! Carlos Mencia was AWESOME in person. He would joke around with the audience in between tapings and it was just a really fun show overall. He actually ended up talking with me a lot because I was sitting in the front row right behind him throughout 3/4 of the taping. By the end of the night, he was calling me Miss Fox. Hahahaha. I really ended up liking Carlos 100 times more after sitting in the studio audience. He's extremely down-to-earth, energetic, WITTY, and just a really nice guy in person. Anyway, so you gotta look for Eddie and I. I'm not sure that I made it into the background, because Carlos was blocking me from the position the camera was in, but you can definitely see Eddie. Our show is going to air in August on Comedy Central. It is the wrestling show with all the different religions and the special guest is "The Edge" from wrestling.
Anyway, better get back to work before I get into trouble. Talk to you all later. Hope you have an awesome weekend!!!!!
Kisses.

Hi guys! :) Just letting you know that I'm still alive. I have "formal legal training" in 11 minutes so this has got to be a really quick update. I'm enjoying all these changes right now here at work, I've just been super super busy!!! Last week, I trained all day with the legal assistant and then worked overtime to help out in marketing because they still do not have anyone to fill my position. This week I have "formal legal training" in the morning followed by training with the legal assistant in the afternoon. I really like it so far. I just haven't had time to do anything else besides work, work, work and class on Mondays and Wednesdays.
A little about my weekend because it's the only time I do fun stuff!!! Friday, we went to eat at a Vietnamese place on Wilshire called "Pho 99". YUM!!! Love Vietnamese food. Afterwards, we caught a late showing of "The Omen". It was okay. I give it a B. Of course it isn't that incredibly scary because it is a remake of an old movie and old movies are never scary. I did jump really high in one part though.
Saturday wasn't much of anything except that we went to eat at Yabu. I'm probably gonna die of mercury poisoning from eating a shitload of tuna. Oh well. Sunday, we went to a BBQ at my friends house in Playa Del Rey.
Oh yeah and Saturday, Eddie bought me an England soccer tracktop because I love Beckham. Eddie has been watching the World Cup nonstop - even waking up at 6am just to catch the games!!!! That's some dedication!!! Although his Heat are doing poorly in the Championship series. 0-2 now. UGH.
If anybody watches Top Chef, we ran into Stephen walking around in Beverly Hills on Saturday. It was hilarious because Anna and I had been talking about him earlier that day. hahahahaha.
2 minutes to go...... a cute guy pulled up next to me this morning and was yelling to get my attention from his truck. I looked over and he just happened to be from FSU as well. He was wearing an FSU shirt and yelling, "Florida State!!! Florida State!!!" LOL. I was all, "haaaaaaay". It's crazy how many FSU people are out here. I love it!!!! Funny how there are like a billion hot, white guys are FSU and I left with the one hispanic. HAHAHAHAHA. Okay, times up!!! Love you guys and miss ya!!! I hope to update again sometime soon!!!!

I can now tell you guys the good news!!! The past few weeks have been hard on me. I've been fighting for the legal assistant position here at my company. It's kind of a long, complicated story and I don't know exactly where to begin. In a nutshell, I had to work extra hard to prove to everyone that they should not be concerned about my communication skills. My position right now in marketing is such a closed and secluded position, that I really screwed myself over. People doubted me because I am not a social butterfly. Then for awhile, I kept getting two different stories from two different people that didn't quite match up. But, in the end, I pushed hard enough and this morning, the attorney pulled me aside; we had a conversation and he decided that he wanted me for the position. Crazy because just before me, he had interviewed another outside candidate for the same position. I'm so excited. I start training on MONDAY!!!! It probably means not as much updating on LJ for me. The legal assistant position is a little more demanding with more work than I currently have. But, YAY! I'm finally on my way to accomplishing my goals here at this company.
Your opinion is needed for the following dilema:
Background: I made a bet on Thursday at the firm event at Baja Cantina. This bet is with the same attorney I made last year's FSU football season bet with. He is my rival in college football. He told me that if I cheer for Miami in our rivalry game this year and Miami wins, he will pay for me to go to Las Vegas.
Explanation: the attorneys are going on a retreat to Vegas and it happens to fall on the weekend after the big game - so he would pay for me to go to Vegas during the time that they are going.
Dilema: I can't sell out my team! That is like selling your soul to the devil. It's a sin and I would go to hell for doing it. And what the heck would I tell Eddie? I'm not sure he would approve of me going to Vegas without him. On the other hand, free trip to Vegas. All expenses paid. How can I pass that up?? There are no catches - all I would have to do is cheer for my rival team and have them win (although they're gonna be pretty shitty this coming year).
Screw WWJD. What would you guys do?

Extended weekends make me dread work even more.
Friday's lunch was spent celebrating a co-worker's birthday at a Thai restaurant called Chan Dara. It was pretty good, but Thai food has never been my favorite Asian food, EXCEPT spicy Thai spagetti. YUM.
I introduced Eddie to the wonders of Yabu. We went for lunch on Saturday and then again for dinner on Sunday. Both times Eddie convinced me to get a dish other than the spicy tuna don and both times I was highly disappointed. During lunchtime, I ordered the Eel Don. The dish was REALLY good, but they only gave you three small pieces of eel so it made the dish not so good. For dinner, I ordered a duck dish with soba noodles, but it ended up being small pieces of duck cut up and put in some sort of broth or soup.
Saturday, we had dinner with a couple of friends at Boss Sushi. You all know by now that Boss is my favorite sushi place. My friends were trying it for the first time and they loved it. We also got hooked up by my friend who is a server there. He gave us a 20% off coupon.
Sunday and Monday we spent the day at Will Rogers state beach.
Sunday night, we saw X-men 3. I'm not a huge fan of the X-men movies. They've all been so poorly written and kind of thrown together just to make money. X-men had so much potential too. The movie was entertaining but cheesy as expected. The dialog was just so noticably bad that I ended up laughing in certain parts. It's almost as if they were aiming to make the characters say stupid things. Eddie ended up sitting next to these two guys who were really tall and built. They spend a lot of time at the gym and tanning salon you could just tell. So we didn't expect for the guy next to Eddie to be such a comic book NERD. I seriously thought he was gonna have an orgasm in the Jean Grey scene at her house when she was up against Prof X. He kept yelling, "WHEW!!!" and shaking his hand like it was a badass scene. He was loud enough for me to clearly hear him two chairs over. So my overall review of X-men 3. Entertaining but cheesy enough for me to roll my eyes several times during the film. Also, a lot of things didn't really make sense to me - especially since I don't read the comics. (for example: Why don't all the X-men wear helmets so that Prof X and Phoenix can't read their thoughts?) Would be a sensible thing to do, right? And Magneto could've very well just flown a car over the bay.
I just wanted to tell you guys that I've been having a lot of stress with my work situation and being able to move to another position within my company. It's seriously harder than coming in fresh from the outside and interviewing for the position. I didn't really realize how much of a fight this was going to be, but I'm fighting it and learning in the process. I really don't want to say anything right now until I find things out (on June 1) because I always end up jinxing myself when expecting something good. I'm just surprised that even though you can make friends with people, in the end they are still corporate and will still deceive you and lie for their company and to save their own arse.
